###

Bob Dylan inspired two generations of musicians and songwriters, and continues to influence emerging writers, performers and artists. Each year a visual arts contest is held during Dylan Days in Hibbing, Minn. – Bob Dylan’s hometown – around the time of Dylan’s birthday.

What kind of art?
All media, provided it can physically fit into Zimmy’s Bar and Restaurant and is safe to display in public for a few days. Art can be related to Dylan or his music, but is open to all subjects.
Judges will base their decisions on creativity, not subject choice. All works will be prominently displayed at Zimmy's during the week of Dylan Days as hundreds of visitors come to Hibbing for cultural events.

Who can enter?
Anyone!

How do I enter?
Use the entry form.

Call ahead of the Dylan Days celebration week if your entry is of notable size so that we may make arrangements for its display. Ask for Linda at 1-866-305-3849 (toll free). Include your full name, address and phone number with any entry. To be entered in official judging, all art must be in Zimmy's by Friday, May 21, 2010 by noon.

STARTING IN 2010 there will be a $20 entry fee (checks made out to Dylan Days of Hibbing, MN) to handle and return artwork. In addition, winning works will be photographed and artists profiled for the next year's edition of "Talkin' Blues," the program/journal for Dylan Days.

What could I win?
Cash! First prize is $100; second is $50; third is $25. All Dylan Days Visual Arts winners, along with winners of the creative writing contest and songwriter’s contest, will receive unique certificates suitable for framing.

Additional opportunities (For Students)

There will be a student Art Exhibition/Contest through the Hibbing Public Library. The project is for student artists in grades K – 12 (ages 17 and under).  The art should be delivered along with the registration form to the library before May 10th.  It will be displayed through Dylan Days.  Two art pieces will be chosen to be reproduced as post cards and will be sold by the Friends of the Hibbing Public Library as a fundraiser for improvements to the library's Dylan Exhibit. No fee. Deadline for entry May 10. (See the entry form).
